Ouch!

Dan Walker banged his shins on a low piece of furniture in my parent’s home while campaigning for Illinois Governor.

As he entered the house to speak at a coffee party, he approached my mother and extended his arm to shake hands with her.

He was looking straight ahead and apparently didn’t see the low bench that had been placed across the hallway to prevent people from entering the kitchen (the gathering was in the living room).

That must have hurt a lot, but he showed no sign of pain. He just smiled at her, thanked her for letting him meet people in her home, and walked into the living room to speak.
