Ethnic slur

It was the first telephone call we received on Election Day in 1973. I was working for Ray Cohen, one of two Independent candidates running for 50th Ward Alderman.

The caller demanded we “take down that kike’s poster from the tree in front of my house.” I hung up on him.

All five candidates were Jewish. So, if he didn’t want to vote for a Jewish candidate, he had nobody to vote for (good!).
