Payback

In 2004, 47th Ward Alderman Eugene Schulter challenged his mentor, former Chicago Parks Superintendent Edmund Kelly, and came within a hair of unseating him as 47th Ward Democratic Committeeman.

He assumed the post next time, in an uncontested election, but Kelly later served up a revenge of sorts, by providing behind-the-scenes help to Ameya Pawar, who defeated Schulter’s hand-picked successor in the 2011 Aldermanic Election.
