Pocketing the precinct money

The election judges were angry that they had to bring their own lunch.

They knew that the precinct captain had been given “precinct money” to pay for things on Election Day. One of those things was lunch. It was customary for the precinct captain to buy a deli tray to feed the election judges and all of the poll watchers – even those campaigning for his competitors.

This time, the guy kept the money for himself and didn’t buy food for anybody.
