Political junkies
It was a couple of days after the Democratic Mayoral Primary. Six of us were loitering in the almost vacant office of the Bill Singer for Mayor campaign - the rent had been paid through the end of the month - wondering what to do on our first free Thursday night in seven months.
“What do you want to do?” one person asked.
“I don’t know,” she answered. “What do you want to do.”
“I don’t know,” he said. “What about you?”
It went on like that for a while. We just couldn't decide what we wanted to do, so, finally, we drove together to the headquarters of Dennis Block, the Independent-backed Republican who had narrowly made it into the runoff election for 48th Ward Alderman and volunteered for yet another election campaign.
