They didn't want to help him

A fellow told me about a problem where he lived. I was surprised that nothing was being done about it. So, I told him to bring it up at a community council meeting so the group could advocate for a solution.

I knew he was a hothead, the kind of person who stands on street corners, yells at people, and calls them names. I told him that when he spoke to the group, he should not yell, not insult people, and not interrupt them.

Well, when he spoke, he yelled, he insulted people, and he interrupted them when they tried to talk. The group did not choose to take action on the matter.

 Afterward, the guy told me he had wasted his time coming to the meeting.
