Manipulating the Jewish vote

When the Chicago Democratic Machine supported  a Jewish candidate, precinct captains told Jewish voters they should support “one of their own,” no matter the candidate’s qualifications (or lack of qualifications).

But when the opposition candidate was Jewish, they said that ethnicity didn’t matter. They formed the “All-Chicago Committee” and listed all of the Jewish Machine elected officials on the letterhead to show support for a non-Jewish candidate.
