Peter Tomei

Independent Peter Tomei won election in 1969 as a Delegate to the Illinois Constitutional Convention (Con-Con) in a Rogers Park-based district on Chicago’s north side. He was considered a rising star on the local political scene.

As the 1972 Democratic primary election approached, he was expected to run for State Representative in that same district.

Unexpectedly, the 36-year old Tomei died suddenly of heart failure.
